A former love interest introduced me to the song 'Envious' by Aluna. Besides the fact that Aluna never misses on anything she releases, this song also turned out to be a great vehicle to explore many aspects of a mind grieving a lost cause relationship. This outside-the-box club/dancehall mix takes the listener through the many somewhat contradictory mental narratives that come with the process of losing a person romantically (jealousy, clinging, defiance, enamor, etc.), culminating in the idea that 'yes, it is what it is and will be but at the end of the day I still care about them.'
